On January 20, 2010 George Fox University hosted their first Food Meet. The Food Meet focused on raising awareness of the importance of local food, and on lowering barriers between consumers and local food producers and preparers. It was an excellent event and many good connections were made. The University has posted a good resource page for those interested in learning how to buy locally.
The organizers plan on repeating the event a few times each year. The next event is tentatively scheduled for April 20, 2010 at the newly opened Chehalem Cultural Center.
